My first time… writes customer Michaela S. in her email to 48grams support… was really unpleasant. Yes, that's what it said. What followed, however, was (fortunately) a testimonial about her first microneedling experience. The Munich resident shared that she suffered particularly on her forehead and chin. In the end, her face was fragile and extremely sensitive. But thanks to our Stress Relief Mask, her skin soon calmed down and healed well. "Your mask truly lives up to its name." Thank you, dear Michaela.
Soothing + Moisture = Regeneration
Yes, today we're talking about one of our products again. And about how skin needs targeted care after external stressors. Microneedling is just one example; this basically applies to any cosmetic treatment that penetrates the tissue. Or to sun-stressed skin – when redness has turned into a real sunburn. Then soothing and hydration are essential, in short: regeneration. The Stress Relief Mask was developed by skincare expert Bernd Kuhs precisely for these challenges!
The biomembrane makes the difference
The central element of the formulation is biomembrane technology. Simply put, these are fatty building blocks (technically known as membrane lipids) that form microscopically tiny lamellae – thus resembling the structure of human skin. This invention by Bernd Kuhs enables something truly remarkable: activating ingredients are transported deep into the skin. A wow effect for parched or damaged tissue.
An algae against oxidative stress
One of the main ingredients in the Relief Mask is an (algae) extract. This golden-brown seaweed is called Laminaria ochroleuca: it is known for its skin-protecting properties. Numerous studies have shown that Laminaria protects cells from oxidative stress, triggered, for example, by UV radiation. At the same time, it combats redness and inflammatory reactions. This effect is precisely what makes the extract so important for the aftercare of irritated skin.
We love mastic
Let's return to one of the INCI ingredients we at 48grams love so much: Pistacia lentiscus, better known as mastic – the resin of the pistachio tree from Greece. Even the ancient Romans used it for injuries, though it later fell somewhat into obscurity. Today, it's an important component of our Skin Repair Cream and Relief Mask. The resin extracts soothe inflammation. In short: they contribute to the regeneration of skin cells and thus play a key role in restoring a damaged protective barrier.
We love Oligo
Another important ingredient in the mask is sodium hyaluronate. This is a particularly fine form of hyaluronic acid, also known as oligo-hyaluronic acid. Because the molecules are extremely small, they penetrate deeper into the skin than regular hyaluronic acid. There, they bind large amounts of moisture – like a sponge. This makes the skin plumper and smoother. Fine lines disappear, and the tissue feels noticeably fresher and more elastic. This is an effect that women want after cosmetic treatments or intense sun exposure!
The perfect combination
The three active ingredients are true skincare champions on their own. But it is only the combination of Laminaria ochroleuca, mastic oil, and oligo-hyaluronic acid that achieves the SOS effect of the Stress Relief Mask: protection and soothing (from algae extract), regeneration (from mastic extract), and hydration (oligo) make possible what hardly any other mask can: a noticeable revitalization of the skin in a time of need.
This is how the application works
The Relief Mask is extremely easy to use: it's quick to apply, adheres pleasantly to the skin, and releases the active ingredients evenly – over a period of 20 to 90 minutes. To quote our customer Michaela S. again: "The microneedling was painful, but then it turned into a wonderful experience. Thanks to your Stress Relief Mask!" Thank you again!
