After introducing you, our dear readers, to "Liquid Jade" – our pure Tamanu oil – here on the blog, and then a week later to "NeoCell Bio-Cream," today we're presenting the final installment of this product trilogy. Perfect timing – because it's getting really crisp and cold outside – and skin needs richer protection. Ta-da! “Day and Night Rich Cream”.
Why skin needs "more" now
When we change our clothing style – from light to lined – our skin also changes noticeably. Cold weather outside and dry, heated air inside deprive the skin of moisture. In other words, if the skin barrier is weakened, the skin feels tight and rough more quickly. And that brings us to a point many of our customers have raised in recent years: that the classic "Day and Night Cream" isn't sufficient for them during the winter months. While it's an excellent all-around moisturizer for spring, summer, and autumn, even good moisturizing formulas reach their limits during the months when the skin is under particular stress. Hence, the "Rich Cream," or rather, the “Day and Night Rich Cream”.
The idea behind Rich Cream
Bernd Kuhs, the skincare guru behind all 48grams creations, developed the "Rich Cream" according to the following principle: more intensive lipid and moisture supply, but without any heavy feeling, meaning the cream shouldn't sit on the skin like a greasy film. Kuhs combined soothing and nourishing ingredients like aloe vera, urea, squalane, shea butter, and olive oil into a particularly creamy texture. And it's precisely this formulation that ensures the cream feels more like a soft, protective film on the skin, without being greasy. Many testers told us that their skin felt more relaxed almost immediately and that flaky patches disappeared more quickly. Now that's great feedback!
What distinguishes the “Rich” from the “Classic”
To be clear: Bernd Kuhs' goal was not to replace the familiar "Day and Night Cream". It remains a core part of our product line – after all, it works exceptionally well for many skin types. Its focus is on hydration and care. “Rich Cream” In contrast, it has a different focus: it offers significantly more lipids and a higher nutrient density. The result is a stronger barrier function. This makes it particularly suitable for customers who suffer from tightness, dryness, or irritation during the winter months. Or – and this is important to know – whose skin is generally more sensitive.
A texture that meets the demands of sophisticated care.
Developing the right consistency was the longest part of the process. Our goal was for the "Rich Cream" to be rich enough to noticeably help dry skin, yet light enough to be easily applied as the final step in your morning skincare routine. The result is a creamy, smooth texture that blends quickly with the skin and isn't sticky. This balance is precisely what makes it so versatile – perfect as a daily winter moisturizer or as a regenerative treatment for particularly stressed skin.
A new chapter for 48grams
With the “Day and Night Rich Cream” We are now closing a gap. While the Classic version is an excellent base, the "Rich Cream" expands the application possibilities with a treatment specifically tailored to intensive needs.Both creams serve their own purpose: one provides light hydration, the other deep care and regeneration. We are very happy with them.
